Romeu Amaral is a partner in the Corporate, Corporate Governance, Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), Arbitration and Litigation practices. With experience in M&A, joint ventures and structuring projects in Latin America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, Romeu Amaral has extensive experience in advising domestic and foreign clients in Brazil and abroad on issues related to Corporate Law, Mergers and Acquisitions (local and cross-border), Capital Markets, Corporate Governance, Arbitration and Corporate Litigation.
Romeu Amaral is a professor at IBMEC of Corporate Law and M&A, in the Post-Graduation course in Business Law, in addition to giving classes as a guest professor for courses and lectures on Corporate Law, Mergers and Acquisitions, Corporate Governance and Capital Markets. He was a professor at Insper in the LLC in Corporate Law and LLM in Corporate Law programs.
He holds a PhD and an LLM in Commercial Law from the University of São Paulo Law School. He holds an LLM in Corporate Law from Mackenzie and an MBA in Business Management from Unicamp (2004).
He is also an executive director and member of the Editorial Board of Revista de Direito das Sociedades e dos Valores Mobiliários, a member of the Instituto de Direito Societário Aplicado and Counselor of Movimento de Defesa da Advocacia.
He is an arbitrator at the Chamber of Specialized Mediation and Arbitration – Cames, specialized center in Corporate Law and Capital Markets, and acts as an arbitrator at the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (CAM-CCBC).
Recently, Romeu Amaral acted as international consultant for the Reform of the Commercial Code of Mozambique.
